Currently there is no cure for HIV, and until we find a cure, HIV never goes away. It does not neccessarily progress into AIDS, but once HIV positive, always HIV positive.

The good news is that there are drugs that can slow down the HIV virus, and slow down the damage to your immune system, but there is no way to "clear" the HIV out of your body.
